Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida

Background Check

I have committed to rent a manufactured home in an adult community park, where no one owns the land, they all pay a monthly rental fee. I agreed with the Home owners to rent their home for four months DEC.15 2002 to APR.15 2003. The home owners have just informed me that the Park owners/management now require a background check from any renters. I signed a lease with the home owners and obviously this check was not in the picture. I understand the fee for this check is $125.00. I am renting from the owners, I have no agreement or involvement with the park.I do not want to pay this charge, what are my options/rights?

Re: Background Check

Your written agreement with your landlord controls. If there is no mention of payment for a backround check by the HOA then he should pay for it. If you had no such written agreement then this added requirement is permissable. Enjoy the winter in Florida. I do.
