Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida

Board Members Decide My Boat Has To Go

I live in a townhome area with an association. I have had a boat parked on my property for about 10 years. Over looked by previous boards. New board members come in and say it has to go. You can't see my boat as it is enclosed by a wood fence. Bi-laws state no boats or trailers anywhere in area. Second set says no boat or trailers on common property. Commom property defined as, any grassy areas, front drive, visitor parking. Will having a petition signed by 10 % of the homeowners help me get the rules changed??? Please advise what else I can do to help me keep my boat on my property. Its only a 17 footer. Seems to me the rule was broken 10 years ago!

Thanks, Lynn

Re: Board Members Decide My Boat Has To Go

Answer depends on which documents control. Mere 10 year lapse in enforcement alone is no valid argument. I doubt your petition will mean anything to them.
