Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida

Am I bound to this lease under these circumstances

I am a tenant at an apartment building, and have been going back in forth with the department of consumer complaints. In their response, they falsified information stating that I was late every month on my rent, and also made up dates that I paid. I kept every receipt that I paid them with. The money order numbers that they submitted were correct, but the dates that they fabricated were not. I could provide you with all evidence needed. Evidentally this company practice in dishonesty. Am I bound to this lease under these circumstances?

Lease voided due to Landlord/ Agent Lies?

FACTS: Am tenant in apt. bldg.; filed complaints with the dept. of consumer affairs. Apt's. response falsified info. that rent was late every month; made up dates that paid late. Kept receipts; Money order numbers submitted correct, but dates fabricated were not. Evidentally this company practice is dishonesty.

Q. Am I bound to this lease under these circumstances?

A. Depends on whether or not Landlord/agent lied in representations about the apt. or the leases.

This is a question of timing. If the lies and deception started AFTER the lease was signed, then your lease may be valid and you may have a separate action for "Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices". You may be able to settle this by agreeing to cancel the lease and get your deposit back.
