Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida
My boyfriends house caught on fire and everything was lost. My son was staying there, rent free, as the home is in the process of a foreclosure. The fire investigator found that the fire is inconclusive as to what started it. Of course there was no homeowners insurance as he walked away from the house about a year and a half ago. My son was in hard times with a new baby and he let them stay there until they could get on their feet. So no money was exchanged.
I have been told that the bank has insurance on the home and they will pay it off and he would be free of the debt. I was also told that he could possibly get the contents of the home reimbursed to a degree.
