Buy house from ex-husband

In result of my Divorce i stayed with a house and my husband with the other house. i want to know if there is a possibility that i can stay with that property now that my exhusband is selling it and i have told him several times that i want to buy it. since we were married does that give me rights to buy it from him? Right now he already has a contract to sell it. sencirely olga

If your name was on the deed or it is your homestead you have certain ownership rights.

Re: Buy house from ex-husband

By "that property" I am assuming you are referring to the house that your ex-husband stayed with. If so, if your name is on the deed, then you may have some ownership interest, but without looking at the deed, and reviewing your divorce property distribution agreement, I cannot give you any real guidance. If you gave up all rights to the property you now want to buy and the divorce settlement agreement makes it clear that only your husband has rights to the property in question, then simply because you were once married to the current owner in and of itself does not provide you with any special rights.
