Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida

Buyer or seller?

The duplex we have rented in Fla. for the past nine years with only a verbal agreement was recently sold. Both buyer and seller refuse to honor our last months rent and return our security deposit.(of which we still have receipts) The new owner says it is up to us to collect from the seller. I know the law states that all deposits etc. must be transferred upon sale of property. My question is,Who must I file a claim against, the new owner or the seller?

Re: Buyer or seller?

I agree with the prior reply you received. But you may consider suing both in order to avoid one saying adjustments were made in favor of the other at the closing.
