Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida

Debt Satisfied - How do I get the lien released.

Hi, I had a debt lien on my house. After negotiation, we agreed on a settlement which I satisfied this week. How do I get a discharge of lien or lien release. Can I do it myself to expedite it to have a clean title as I am going through a refinancing process? If yes, how? Or is the only option I have is to wait for the debtor to submit a lien release to the court? I have all the agreements in writing via email and have copies of the check submitted to the debtor as agreed. Please advise.

The lien holder must release. You should have had this done at the time of payment. If he refuses, you will need a court order.

Mr slater is correct. You should send certified letter asking for the recoded release. If you do t receive you would have to file equity action to get what you need
