Can you please define the meaning of ''as is'' in the purchase of a residential house. Are liens and clouds on the title cleared before purchase? Any info is appreciated. Thank you, Karen

"As is" means the seller will not pay for any repairs. It has nothing to do with clouds on title.

"As is" usualy refers to the physical condition of the premises. To receive good and marketable title the other items you mentioned need be cleared at or before closing.
