Effect of leins on transfer of property title

My husband has a judgment and a lein against him. What effect will that have when/if we sell our real estate? Does the require that we pay off the final judgments and leins before transferring a clear title to the buyer?

If the property is homestead, the liens can be avoided. Retain competent counsel.
