Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida
Eviction over weeds
We have been renting a home for 2 years. The landords say we are responsible for the removal of weeds in the yard. This is a ''manicured'' lawn and there is a lawn man that is supposed to come as needed. We had to buy weed kill and spray the hedges since the lawn man wouldn't. We included the receipt along with our rent check (minus the $55.00 for weed kill). Now, our landords are up in arms saying they are going to evict us if we do not give them the money we spent and they want us to pull oak trees (aka weeds) that are growing in the hedges. Really, they are upset because they had to have a plummer come out and repair a water leak. Can they do this? What is our recourse? I am very upset over this and do not really feel like moving my family over $55.00 but, I don't want to be pushed around either. Any advice you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

Re: Eviction over weeds
Read your lease. Whoever is responsible for lawn maintenance should have paid the bill.
