my father in law purchased a house he was the mortgager and i was deeded this property,he let the property go to forclosure,am i leagally resopnsible for the mortgage,the property is in ny i reside in florida

If you did not sign the mortgage note, no. You will lose the property.

New York law applies so you really need to speak to an attorney in NY. If you did not sign the mortgage and note or assume responsibility for it, then you cannot be held responsible for its payment. If you don't pay, you will lose the house.
