Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida

My Father recently passed away in Florida. My sister's name is on the deed. We want to put my name on the deed in the event of her death, but I own a house in Florida with homestead exemption. If my name is placed on the deed will this affect the homestead exemption on my primary residential property?

Based on the facts you present. No, your homestead exemption is tied to your residency and not ownership.

Your homestead exemption (for taxes and creditors) will not apply to this house because it is not your primary residence. You (or your sister) should consult with an estate planning attorney to receive advice about the best way to go about doing this.
