I need to know if my home is forclosed on - can I buy another home and if I can how long do I have to wait?

You should have received a notice of intent to file suit and, afer that, you should have been served with a summons and complaint to foreclose. If you did not receive the lawsuit papers, go to your county court and check the court records for your name as a defendant in pending lawsuits to confirm whether the suit was filed. You should be able to do this on-line via the Internet Being a named defendant in a pending foreclosure action does not prohibit you from purchasing another home. However, your credit

may have been damaged and if a money judgment is entered against you it may pose a problem for you in the future. If you have been sued, you should consult with a lawyer experienced in defending foreclosure suits.
