Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida

HOA discrimination - can my Homeowners Association tell me who can and cannot live in my house with me? After my marriage ended in divorce, I was left in a large home by myself. My HOA has banned anyone but a blood relative (or new husband) to live with me here. Is this legal?

Housing discrimination based on a protected class status is illegal, both on a federal and state level. Take all of your documents to a real estate attorney for review. Your HOA may have a real problem if they are attempting to ban your right to free association.
