Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida

I am behind on my HOA dues for a condo in Florida. I got a letter stating they would put a lien on the property if I didn't pay the full amount in 30 days. I can't pay the full amount in 30 days but I can in 60 days. They will not accept partial payment in the meantime. What happens in Florida when the HOA puts a lien on your home? I don't owe anything on the condo, I own it free and clear.

Please advise.

This can quickly spiral out of control. I would do everything you can to get that paid in full right away. You do not want a lien. It will arrive with a lawyer's bill. Even if you get a small loan on the Condo, which should be easy since you are free and clear, get the HOA dues paid. Do not fall into the trap of ignoring this. There are horror stories all across Florida where people have lost their condos when HOA dues went unpaid.
