Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida

homeowner association dues

Our s/d has been in legal proceedings with a nieghbor for the past 3 yrs or so. The legal costs have continued to mount and the the association needs more money for legal fees. We just got notice that our quarterly dues are being raised from 420.00 to 900.00, over a 100% increase immediately. Due today. Is that legal? Also, if they are able to raise like this, (1) how often can they raise them, (2) is there a cap on how much they can raise them and (3) do they need to give us a certain amount of notice

Re: homeowner association dues

The procedure for raising dues or issuing assessments should be covered in your documents. I would think they require a meeting and notice to the members.
