Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida

My homeowners association switched last year, in the process some payments didn't get made, when they sent a billed for $360 I paid it electronically. A few months later I got another bill when I checked it was for $420 and after review the payment I attempted to make was returned to my account.

Fast forward after months of trying to get ahold of someone they sent me to collections.

I advised collections what had happened and there response was to bill me for $1500+ dollars. Double what they initially billed me for. After I talked with the aid at this place the homeowners company sent me a bill for $470 so I thought at this point they had pulled the owed amount from collections, this was not the case. What can I do.
