Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida

HomeOwner's Association window tint and enforcement

I had low reflective window tint installed to conserve energy and protect furniture. The covenant states (read after receiving first warning), no foil or tint. We got second letter with a 10-day deadline. No neighbors have complained. I have never understood what they are trying to prevent (could understand blinding a neighbor with high reflective tint). Anyway, there are at least 10 other homes with tint violations (drove around...I didn't ask them if they received letters). There are several homes with 2 sat dishes (stated rules are 1 dish only). There are homes with trash cans visible from the street...etc (so I'm not sure enforcement is uniform...not yet) What should I do?

Re: HomeOwner's Association window tint and enforcement

(1) Send them a letter asking them which clause they are relying on to prohibit you from having window tint. (2) Ask if you can submit the window tint to your Association's review committee to approve, even though it has already been installed; (3) Ask if anyone else has ever received approval or has been sent a letter prohibiting the tint. Good Luck...
