Homestead in Florida

I was not able to make a payment for my homeowners dues. A ton of interest has been tacked on to the original debt. Now they are threatening to foreclose on my property at a forced sale. Am I not protected by Homestead in the stste of florida

It is my understanding, by virtue of a recent case, that you are protected by the homestead exemption statute.
