Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida
On January 1, 2010, my husband and I moved into a condo. It was rented to us by a real estate agent as his client had "moved" out of the country. We recently found out the "client" is a former president from a South American country where he was jailed in the 80's and is now on the run from the law. He has supposedly moved to Costa Rica and is in hiding. This was not brought to our attention when we were looking at this condo. We are about to adopt and I do not want to bring a child into a situation that might be volatile. Is there anyway to get out of this lease? We live in Florida.

Unless the agent had no authority to make a lease, I see no grounds for termination.
