Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida

land question

My friend has been living with a woman in his house for many years. They recently had a falling out and he left his house. She remained living there for a few months but they maintained .... a relationship. He recently

visited his house to pick up something but his ''girlfriend'' called the police. She apparently filed an injunction to keep him 500 feet away from his own house. Is that legal?

Re: land question

Your friend should IMMEDIATELY retain a lawyer, to represent him in family, civil and criminal court.

Whether the "injunction" is valid and enforceable depends upon what your friend did and did not do; what was claimed and whether he timely responded to the allegations which formed the grounds for the injunction.

Suggest that your friend might want to consider selling his house, ASAP, (yeh, w/the woman in it) if his name is the only one on the title. Could be the easiest and cheapest way for him to disengage.

Please note, these types of cases rarely end they way one might expect. And then, only after protracted and expensive proceedings.

Good luck,
