Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida

land trust trustee's right to enforce lease

A judge recently told me, that as trustee of a land trust, I could lease a property, but not enforce the lease further than filing the complaint. He said presenting a court's default motion is unauthorized practice of law. He required a notice of appearance by an attorney before he would grant the default. Was he right?
