Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida

Landlord sueing in FLA ...

If a landlord is going to sue me in Fla, where we broke our lease and we live across the country, wouldnt we have to be served in the state we are currently living in and be sued there as well? What is the probability that they would win?

Re: Landlord sueing in FLA ...

If the former landlord brings a suit against you it will be in Florida where the alleged breach took place. You would be served where you currently live but no separate suit would have to be filed. If you lose the case in Florida then any judgment against you would then have to be domesticated in Indiana in order to attach any assets you have there. If you have assets in Florida then the landlord can claim lien against those with a judgment against you and without any further proceedings.
