Q. Can a landlord/rental agent REFUSE to divulge rental history of tenant to another landlord/rental agent where tenant wants to move?

A. Yes. There is no legal requirement to share this information with anyone except maybe the gov't during an audit for legitimate purposes.

Any sharing could subject the provider to slander or other legal action unless a proper release and authorization were signed by the tenant and the info. released was limited as to content and who received it for legitimate purposes as set forth in the authorization.
