Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida
Landlord-Tenant Law
I was wondering under what circumstances can a tenant shorten/terminate a lease without having to pay two months rent or more and other fees. If a property offers 7-9-12 month leases and a tenant has signed a 9 month, can that tenant shorten the lease to a 7 month without penalties if a long enough notice is given? Can relocatting for a job be a factor in avoiding termination penalties? Thank you.

Re: early lease termination
A tenant has no rights to terminate a lease early except those which are explicitly stated in the lease contract. There is an exception for leases signed before a person enters military service.
