Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida

Hi! My lease agreement stated that I was responsible for Elective Maintenance of locks and keys. During my stay, one of the locks on a bedroom door malfunctioned, trapping me inside the bedroom. Am I responsible for installing a new lock? I live in Florida.

Really not possible to answer this without seeing the actual lease. Is Elective maintenance defined? Not a phrase I have heard used routinely. In all likelihood the emergency nature of your problem is not elective and therefore would not be subsumed in that phrase.
