Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida
Getting out of a lease
Are there currently any laws that allow you to get out of a lease already signed? I have past the seven day cancellation period, but still have two months before I move in.

No. The lease agreement controls. Read it to learn whether there are any escape provisions that would allow you to cancel the lease before occupying the premises, even if it means paying a cancellation fee. Alternatively, the landlord might extend an olive branch and allow you to get out of the lease if you explain your situation. Legally, however, it appears you don't have much of a leg to stand on, otherwise what good would lease agreement be if you could just ignore your obligations under them or cancel them at will. Good luck.
