legal rights tenants

I was a tenant.and i was recently asked to move.While i was there,i did landscape the yard.Now that i moved i removed the plants.The landlord wants them returned even though i purchased them and took care of them.Do i have to return the plants.Do they now belong to the landlord?

The plants, while in the ground were a part of the realty. If you removed them, you did so without entitlement.
