Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida

Lein on Property for HOA

I have a back debt for a large amount in back home owners association dues. This association has been unorganized and has changed ownership several times.I did not receive a bill or anything in writing from them stating anything about this amount for over a year that I have lived there. Now they are stating that If I do not come up with X amount of money they will put a lien on my property.I have tried to make a payment plan with them but they refuse to do so. What are the consequences of a lien?

Re: Lein on Property for HOA

The association can foreclose on the lien, meaning your property may be sold at the courthouse steps to recover the amount of the lien (plus attorney's fees, interests, costs, etc.). You need to seek the advice of counsel. Good luck.
