Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida

I am living at an apartment complex and there have been numerous break-ins to the surrounding apartments and just yesterday, the leasing office was broken into. The people that broke into the office stole every residents information including social security numbers and copies of our licenses and such. Not only do my roommates and I feel threatened, but now someone can potentially steal our identities. Is there anyway we can break our lease to move to a more safe complex? Thank you!

You will need to have an attorney review your facts. While the obvious lack of safety and privacy breach is a substantial reason to break your lease, you should get a definite legal review before jumping out of the pan and into the fire. Your apartment complex should also be held liable for the loss of your personal information. Especially since it knew or should have known about the numerous break ins occurring in the area. It should have taken better precautions to protect this sensitive information.
