mom and dad passed away. their house had a lady bird deed listing the 3 sons and 1 daughter.my brother who is listed on ladybird deed is moving in the the home. do we need to notify property appraisers office and can my brother file for homestead exemption?. also will the taxes on the house go way up? my parents had homestead for over 20 years. tks edwin

Sorry for your loss. To answer:
1) Record your parents death certificates
2) Your brother then can file for homestead, but it may not be effective till 2011.
3) Since he is only a 1/4 owner, the homestead may not be fully available, but be proportionally given. At least it will be something
4) Taxes go way up? Can't answer. Depends upon what they have been, and what they are. Good likelihood they will go up some.
