Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida
mom has home in florida but has been living in Maryland with me for about 6 months because she is getting treated for stage 4 lung cancer and brain cancer. Husbands family (who nobody cares for and is also not doing well) in the meantime has changed the locks on the door and is not allowing my mom to take any of her posessions she owned pre marriage like furniture that has been in the family. They have been married for about 18 years. They already cleared out most of the bank accounts and had their dad take her stuff out of the safe deposit box and have it at their house. The family is waiting for my mom to pass away as they are poor and they will get everything once she passes. Want to know since we are heading to florida in 2 weeks are we allowed to take my moms posessions that she had pre marriage and how can we go about getting her personal items that were in the safe deposit box.

If they will not allow you to take the stuff, than you will have to file a lawsuit. Seek legal help when in Florida.
