Can old mortgage company do this?

My mortgage was sold/bought from PCFS in Nov. 2004 the new holder is Litton. Now PCFS has filed for foreclosure papers on my house.Are they aloud to do this?

In fact in may be the current holder of the mtg who is suing in the name of the original mtg holder. More facts are required.
