Hm. Owners Association Rights
Q. I live in a neighborhood where an association
governs , their polices are selective, renters are
consistency complained about to landlords, more so
if they have children. One family in the neighborhood
pin pointed as problems my kids. Also it has been
stated that they are going to get rid of renters
and kids. When I tried to attend a meeting I was
told I couldn't and was told to leave. Is this
discrimination? Is there some way to stop the
accusations? Is this considered slander?
A. A homeowners rights are governed by Fla.
Statutes contained in Capter 617. Write to the
Sect. of State in Tallahassee and ask for a free
copy. Then consult an attorney. They aren't
allowed to keep you out of meetings which by law
are public meeting open to members.
