Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida

Notice at End of Lease

I am currently in a month-to-month rental agreement where I paid first month's rent, a $500 security deposit, and last month's rent. The building I live in was recently sold and I have a new landlord but my lease has not be changed at all. In my lease it states that I am to get my deposit back in 15 days. However, FL law states that the landlord has 30 days to return the deposit. What do I go by - my lease or FL law?

Thanks.

Re: Notice at End of Lease

The lease controls. If the landlord fails to return your deposit or provide you with written notice of the basis for keeping all or part of the deposit, feel free to call me if you require legal counsel. Good luck.
