Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida

Overpayment of Real Estate Taxes

I paid my real estate property taxes in 11/2002. My lender also paid the same taxes in 11/2002. It is 5/2003 and the taxing authority in Lee County Florida has not refunded the overpayment. Is there are statute that requires the taxing authority to refund the money in a timely manner, and/or, the payment of interest for the delay? Do I have any recourse?

Re: Overpayment of Real Estate Taxes

Go down to their offices with your proof. They should either refund the $ or credit it towards the next payment due.
