Past Due HOA Dues from New House

We bought Foreclosure house and were told all HOA Dues were paid. Now we have one HOA in Collections, contacting us to pay the unpaid dues from the bank. The Lis Pendens was discharged, due to Dismissal Litigation. What can we do to stop the collection process?
