Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida
Hello, I have some paychecks from 2009 that I never cashed or deposited in my bank. I received letters asking me about them and to send the letters back within 30 days. The 30 days is past gone. Can I still deposit my paychecks or send in the letters requesting to reissue my paychecks? I don't want to ask the payroll at my job to do it because I don't want them to know how irresponsible that was. I really need the money now, and waited so long because I did not know what to do. Please help. Thank you.

Do the checks state that they are invalid after a certain number of days? If so, them may be void. You can try to deposit them to see if they go through; but ultimately, you will have to have them re-issued through the company that issued them. If you are too embarrassed to call them, then write them a letter explaining simply that the checks were never deposited and to please re-issue them. Include the old checks in the letter. Make sure you make copies of everything, including the checks, before you send it back. Mail it return receipt.
