Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida
Person receives dog bite from tied up dog on its property
While my dog was out in the back yard tied up a loose dog runs trough our property and gets the dog barking. This is followed shortly by two children chasing after it and this gets the dog barking more. After the children gettheir dog one of the children asks to pet our dog and our son says sure. The dog nipped the child when it came to him. The family's lawyer now wants a copy of our home owners insurance. What should I do, I am not giving him a copy of my insurance or anything else until I know what rights I have. Please help.

Call your insurance agent. Follow his or her advice.
Re: Person receives dog bite from tied up dog on its property
Contact your homeowner's insurance carrier or insurance agent and put them on notice of what has occurred, and of the request made by the claimaint's lawyer. Based on the facts you have provided, it appears that there are defenses against claims that have been or may be made by the family of the child who was bitten. Your homeowner's insurance carrier should defend your interests if there's coverage for a dog bite claim. That's the reason you purchased insurance in the first place. If necessary, your insurance company will appoint counsel to represent you. Good luck.
