Pre Construction Contract with Developer

I have a pre contruction contract with a developer for a town house to be built. I have given a 10% deposit (apprx $26K) to secure the property. The contract was signed around 8/05. I have since decided to relocate from the area and move to Orlando. The contract states that if the ''buyer'' i.e. me, cancels they retain the deposit. The property is about 4 to 8 months from being completed. Please advise.
