Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida

prescriptive easement

We have lived in our home since 1992. It has a pond and island in the backyard. We were told that most of the island was our property. The only access to the island is a bridge from our yard to the island. We now wish to build a tree house on it but a neighbor has said they would do whatever it took to tear it down. We looked at the plats and can't tell for sure if it's ours or not. Since we have kept it up since moving here and the people before also did the same can we assume prescriptive easement?

Re: prescriptive easement

You need to take all of the papers you have regarding your property and meet with a real estate lawyer located in the county where the property is located. Good luck.
