Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida
Pre-trial property liens
situation: A friend went on trial 5 years ago. Before he went to trial, a property lien was placed on his estate by the state of Florida. He was eventually convicted and i think is still paying restitution. He tried to sell his home recently, and after a title search, he had found that his entire estate was laced with liens dating back to a month before his trial. Is this LEGAL? Does he need a lawyer? Can he file a counter suit?

Real Estate Liens
With reference to your question, I suggest thatindeed you consult an attorney. It is difficultto post a reply as you have not indicated thenature of the liens. They must be reviewed. Itmay be possible to negotiate them at a reducedpayment or have them striken. Only your attorneycould anser that after reviewing the nature ofthe liens.
Property Liens Pre- Criminal conviction
Public Defender liens are not a lien on real estate, if this is what you mean by "estate". Need to know the type of lien and type of estate. Friend should consult an atty. There are legal ways to deal with this type of problem.
