I am recently divorced and had given a verbal to have someone take over payments on our home. Now my ex will not stand by the agreement. Can the buyer sue us?

Sorry but the question is not answerable with the facts given. You are divorced and ended up with some property? You gave verbal authorization to whom to pay what? Your ex was somehow involved in the agreement to have "someone" take over the payments? what did your ex have to do with it? The buyer of what? the property? The person who was to make the payments? You need to clarify this much better. Best to hire an attorney and bring all your documents.
