Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida

I've been renting a home since May of 2012 and am in excellent standing...house/yard are maintained and my rent is always deposited 1 - 2 weeks before the 1st of the month. Last year, when the lease expired, my landlord asked me to white out and change the dates of the previous lease, sign and send to her. I did so, via UPS. I attached a sticky asking her to sign and return the signed copy to me in order to fully execute the lease. Because I've had a job change I can no longer stay here. Could I get sued?

Potentially. Not sure if the lease was executed or accepted, but your payment of continued rental under the terms of the original lease may be sufficient to extend the original lease. Perhaps the best way to handle this would be to speak to the landlord and explain the new employment circumstances and see if there is a way to work out of the lease without a legal matter ensuing.
