''Am I responsible for the terms of the lease''

My husband and I rented a place and where evicted before our lease was up, however I never signed the lease but my husband did, Am I still responsible for the terms of the lease?

Re: ''Am I responsible for the terms of the lease''

The general rule would be no. However, the law is

always full of exceptions. One that might apply in

your case is whether your husband acted as your agent.

You could then be held responsible. And as Mr.

Jay pointed out, you could be held responsible if

you defaulted or for some other procedural reason.

I strongly suggest you seek the advice of counsel,

especially if you have been served a summons.

Based upon the limited information you provided, if you did not sign the lease agreement, you cannot be held responsible for the terms of the lease. Of course, if you were sued in open court and did not move to dismiss, there may be a judgment against you.

This is a serious legal matter and the specific facts of your case should be reviewed with a competent real estate attorney.
