Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida
satisfaction of mortgage
When a mortgage has been paid in full, is there a form called a "mortage satisfaction" which can be obtained, and if so, can it be downloaded from the internet? (if yes, where?)
Also, does the form have to be filed in court?

Re: satisfaction of mortgage
Yes, when one pays off a mortgage, one should get
the mortgagee to sign a satisfaction of mortgage,
which should be recorded with the clerk's office
in the county where the property is located. Forms
are easy to come by, but are not that helpful since
the main information (legal description and reference
to OR Book and page number where mortgage was
originally recorded) that needs to be included is
unique to each transaction.
