Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida

Security Deposit & Damages Problem

My roommate is moving out 6 months into a 12 month lease. I paid the security deposit in full when we moved in (I have the receipt in my name)and she paid the rent for the first month. But then I paid the next month entirely and she insists that I owe her half of the deposit when she moves out. She has also caused damage to the property and the landlord said there will be no inspection when she leaves. Does this mean I have to pay her half of the deposit, I paid in the first place, AND I will have to be blamed for her damages? Please Help Me! Thank You

Re: Security Deposit & Damages Problem

Since you paid the security, why pay her? Nothing should be paid until you move out and damages, if any, are determined. Good luck.
