Security deposit on a rented house

My Landlord owes me $4,000 for my

deposit. She sent me a check of

$2,880. She wrote on the check

''cancelled check is proof of receipt/

acceptance of security deposit

return.''

If i accept the check ''without

prejudice'' - do i waive my rights to

claim the balance of the money she

owes me?

Not in my opinion, since it does not indicated "payment in full".
