Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida

Seizing Property

Friends of mine were in a lease agreement for the home that they were in. They left the home approximately 4 months prior to the least ending on 1/02/03. I moved in the home without signing a lease. My friend verbally told me that he called the owner and informed him that I would be staying in the home and they would still be paying the rent. (My portion was paid to my friends) On 12/28/02, the owners of the came and stated that they were not aware of my being in the home and that I had to leave. The owners seized my property (i.e., television, Computer, Stereo, etc) and will not return it. Do the owners have the legal right to seize my property? What can I do legally?

Re: Seizing Property

Assuming that no writ of possession was obtained by the landlord, you can sue to recover your property and/or the value of it.
