The law provides that a repair shop must give a written estimate of repair charges, or a written statement of this right with the option to waive it. However, this does not apply to charges less than $100.00. It is reasonable for the shop to charge a fee to look at the scooter and diagnose the problem. Unless they told you otherwise when you dropped off the scooter, you may be stuck paying the bill. You may want to check if the bike is under warranty?
